OER Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER)

Open Educational Resources (OER) are free teaching and learning materials that can be used, reused, and shared without permission. Unlike traditionally copyrighted resources, OERs are created by individuals or organizations that retain few or no ownership rights.

In some cases, you can download and share these resources with colleagues and students. In others, you may be able to modify and republish them as a remixed work.

Explore the resources below to learn more about incorporating OER into your courses.

OER Resources for Faculty

  • CCC OER Website – general information, including professional development, funding opportunities and how to get involved with the OER movement on campus.

  • CCC OER LibGuide – detailed faculty guide on finding, adopting and creating OERs

OER Faculty Lead

OER Faculty Lead

Hello! My name is Stephanie Coffman, and I am the OER Faculty Lead on our campus. What initially drew me to OER was the cost savings for students, but I quickly realized that the customization and creativity of OER far surpass traditional textbooks. Switching to an OER textbook didn’t just save my students money— over time, it transformed my classes into a more relatable, inclusive, and student-centered experience.

Throughout the semester, watch your email for OER professional development opportunities and newsletters from the ASCCC-OERI, which contain updates on the OER work being done in the California Community Colleges.
