Clovis CC Online Teaching Certification Training Waiver

If you have completed an online teaching certification at another college or institution (either within or outside of SCCCD) or prior to Spring 2015, you can request a review of your course in lieu of completing the Online Teaching Certification course at Clovis. To qualify, you must have completed recognized online teaching training (note: Canvas training alone does not meet this requirement) and have prior experience teaching online.

Steps to Request a Waiver:

  1. Complete the Waiver Request Form - This initiates your review request.
  2. Ensure Your Course Meets Requirements Before Submitting:
    • Your course has been taught online at least once previously or is fully prepared for online delivery.
    • Content is organized in Modules.
    • Accessibility standards are fully met.
  3. Complete Required Components Questions

Once you submit the form, your course will be reviewed by our Distance Education team using the CVC Course Design Rubric. After review, you will receive one of the following results:

  1. Pass: Your course meets all criteria. You will be added to the list of certified online faculty.
  2. Minor Updates Needed: Small adjustments are required. You will be asked to work one-on-one with the instructional designer to make these updates.
  3. Extensive Updates Required: If your course requires substantial revisions or lacks essential components, you will need to complete and pass our Online Teaching Certification course to continue to teach online.

If you meet these requirements, you may complete the form here: Clovis CC Online Teaching Certification Training Waiver
