Tips for Locating Print Books:

• Search the library catalog for books on your topic. You can search by author, title or keyword.
• You can renew materials from our library collection by phone, in person, or online (by signing into your account) as long as no other person has requested the material. If you have any questions, just ask!

Search Terms

You may want to try some of these general search terms. Notice that the search terms are singular; for the best results, start your search using the singular form of a subject in this area.

One of the best ways to search the catalog for items is to enter a specific, one-word or short phrase that represents your topic. As our catalog has a smaller collection to search from than, let's say, a research database containing thousands of journal articles, starting with a broad topic will make sure you have plenty of results to choose when using the catalog.

In the Library of Congress Classification System, books on microbiology topics will be located under QR. Please note that books on specific diseases may be located in other sections as well.
