Like most academic libraries, the CCC Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System to organize the books on the shelves. Books whose main topic is political science will have a call number that begins with a J , and books from the subcategory of American Government will have a call number beginning with a JK . For help browsing the shelves on specific topics, the Library of Congress provides an outline of where to find different political science topics by call number.
There can be overlap among political science topics and other related areas of research—such as history, law, and sociology—so do check the call number of item carefully when searching the library catalog. Librarians and library staff are always ready to help, too.
The OneSearch library catalog also searches through our collections of digital content, including eBooks. EBooks found using the catalog can be read directly in a web browser. There are no due dates for these eBooks, and they don't need to be "checked out" or downloaded; just click the link and read!
To read an eBook off campus, all current students, faculty, and staff will sign in using the same credentials used to access Canvas or SCCCD email. A complete list of our eBook collections can be found on the database page.
The CCC Library has thousands of books on the shelves, and even more eBooks that you can access anywhere you have Internet access. Use the search box above to start a search for books in any format.
