How to Use the Gale In Context Databases

Use the Opposing Viewpoints - Gale in Context database to search for credible information sources—like articles, viewpoint essays, and reference sourceson today’s most important social issues.

Database Features

  • This Gale database offers Viewpoints—essays that clearly argue for or against the issue being examined
  • The Browse Topics page lists all available topics in the database; helpful for finding a topic you would like to research
  • Try an advanced search to narrow down to specific subjects, types of sources, publication dates, etc.
  • Remember to save and send your sources using the database's tools near the top of each page; do not save items by saving the address in the address bar!
  • Ability to search Global Issues and Opposing Viewpoints simultaneously, if needed, from the main search box
  • You can start a basic search in the address bar; combine elements of your topic with the word "AND" in between each concept. For example, "housing AND foreclosures AND California"
