Faculty Guide to Online Resources during COVID-19: Textbooks

A resource guide for instructors linking to various textbooks, course materials, and resources for making the transition to online instruction.

Free Access to Textbooks

Several textbook vendors are making their resources available to students via the websites below. Continue to check this page and these websites as information is constantly being updated as more and more institutions move online.

  • VitalSource: Textbooks free until May 25, 2020. You will need to make a log-in with your CCC email address to qualify.
    • Directions on downloading books.
    • Download the Bookshelf app.
    • Please note: You may only add up to 7 books to your account for free. Once you reach the 7 textbook limit, you will have to pay for any additional textbooks you want to access. Pay attention to the "counter" in the lower-left corner of your account to keep track of the number of free textbooks you have accessed.
  • RedShelf: Textbooks free until May 25, 2020. You will have to create a free account, using your CCC email address and designate your school as Clovis Community College.
    • Please note: RedShelf has instituted a 7 book limit. If you need more than seven books, you will have to pay for them so keep careful track of how many you access!

Please note:

  • More textbooks are becoming available every day via these platforms. Most of the major publishers are represented but smaller publishers are being added daily as they give their permission to be included.
