About the Artist

Dawn Hart is a local artist serving on the art faculty at Clovis Community College. She received her AA from Clovis Center, Reedley College, and her BA and MA from Fresno State. Dawn works in her North Fork studio, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Her process involves research, on site exploration and gathering, and an intensive studio practice. Dawn’s enduring interests revolve around concepts of the natural environment and the importance of place, recently amplified by wildfires that threaten her home, community, and surrounding forest. Dawn will be teaching an honors seminar course in the spring 2024 semester titled: “Place Making” and will be exhibiting work at the Porterville Community College Gallery in fall 2024.

About the Exhibit

Lost Trees Found is an art exhibition by Fresno based artist and professor Dawn Hart featuring sculptural and photographic work created over the past year, previously exhibited at the University of Nevada Reno at Tahoe where she is completing an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts.

The artworks in Lost Trees Found, include sculpture made from bark, seeds, leaves, caps and branches shed from trees, lumen prints and photography, are presented in conjunction with a website that houses personal reflections, documentation and dendrological information. An extension of the exhibition space, the website and the artworks go hand in hand.
